How to look after your new brushes

Firstly who doesn’t love new makeup brushes? Let’s keep them looking brand new for as long as we can; you shouldn’t need to keep replacing your brushes!

Invest in good quality brushes.

Why are quality brushes actually important? Why are they better than cheap brushes? A lot of people ask these questions, and there are many reasons why quality brushes are important.

Starting with… Buying quality brushes actually saves you money. While it might seem expensive at first, it will save you some serious money in the long run. Buying cheap quality makeup brushes will have you reaching to replace them much quicker, meaning you spend more money.

Secondly, the finish of your makeup will appear more flawless. Quality brushes allow the application and blending process easier for you; they do the hard work! They should also feel soft and gentle on your skin instead of rough and scratchy, meaning they are kinder for your skin.

Store them properly

Whilst most of us are guilty of chucking our favourite brushes in our bag on the go… Storing your brushes separately prevents the brush hairs from losing shape/quality.

Where to keep them when at home? You’ve got free range to store brushes anywhere.. except out in the open in your bathroom. They can absorb moisture, and since moisture often breeds bacteria, you have to be careful. If you do keep them in a bathroom, keep them in an airtight bag or container. If your brushes are on the side exposed, please be mindful of the dust that may collect on them.

Keep them clean.

Clean brushes are our number 1 top skincare tip. While spray brush cleaner is great for a quick fix in between looks.. make sure you are giving your brushes a thorough wash frequently. This prevents bacteria build-up meaning clearer skin & also prolongs the life of your brush.

Always wash and rinse your brushes with warm water & brush hairs facing downwards.. to avoid water breaking down the bond between the brush handle and brush head. Leave to dry on a flat surface preferably with the brush hair over the surface’s edge to keep the true shape.

What to clean your brushes with? We recommend using an anti-bacterial brush cleaning solution or a silicone-free baby shampoo, and hand washing your brushes.
